This test is designed to help detect and identify strep pyogenes and enterococci plus members of the enterobacteriaceae from clinical isolates. Identicult ae uses a chromogenic substrate, l-pyroglutamylpeptide hydrolase (pyr) which produces a red to pink color upon addition of the reagent. Reagent # 2 is cinnamaldehyde, aka spot indole reagent. Thus, this test gives two results which can also be used in the rapid identification of e. Coli from positive urine cultures.
