20X ssc is a common buffer used in a variety of molecular biology applications. It is a clear, colorless solution made up of molecular biology grade 3.0 M nacl and 0.3 M sodium citrate at ph 7.0. The solution is filtered through a 0.2 Filter into a dnase/rnase free bottles. 20X ssc can be used to facilitate transfer of nucleic acids to membranes in southern and northern blotting, dot blotting, and colony and plaque lifts.
